Carol Ann Tomlinson, US Educator, once said: “Plan to be better tomorrow than today, but don't plan to be finished.” As a 14-year trustee of MiraCosta College, I have lived by that philosophy, and that is why I am seeking re-election to the Governing Board. I am not finished.
I have worked very hard during my tenure in support and service to students, the College, our community, and the taxpayers of the District. But there is still much to be done, especially in this challenging world and in an age of rapidly-changing technology.
During my tenure on the Board, I believe I have demonstrated my commitment and leadership by being:
· Student-centered and community-engaged;
· A strong advocate for open, transparent and responsible government;
· A strong advocate for fiscal accountability;
· I have never been afraid to stand up to difficult issues and to vote my honest convictions after reviewing all of the facts available to me;
· I respect faculty and staff and value their role in the collegial governance process;
· I hold the College in the highest regard as a steward of its resources and of the public’s trust;
· I have a deep love for the College that spans over 50 years.
Accreditation is also one of my top priorities. I am committed to working together with my fellow Board members and the entire College to fulfill the recommendations of the Accrediting Commission and ensure MiraCosta's continued accreditation.
